Altered Perception

In slow time,
the colours of day
receded
further from
his mind's imagination,
painting out the scene.
Night left him
feeling out of place,
but aware
his body
was insubstantial, could fade
into nothingness,
as nightmares
combined to close ranks,
battalions
of grey ghosts
marching in hushed formation
towards the sunrise.

Inspired by Mag 132, with thanks to Tess & Andrew Wyeth.

  2. We become ghosts, mayhap, at night? And it is the light that brings us back. I think :)

  4. I love the image you've created and the words "battalions
of grey ghosts marching in hushed formation" . Restless slumbers are difficult to deal with the following day. So imaginative, Jinksy! Thank you for sharing.

  12. As we travel thru time, in our time machine, all looks well and should be wall hung.

  13. Not sure which I liked most, the way you altered the image or the words you accompanied it with. Either way, this is a hit with me!

  23. Your ghosts in grey will give way to morning, but when you're in the middle of them, it seems like eternity, no? Haunting poem, and NO pun intended. Strong! Amy
