A Little Madness Goes A Long Way

Phantasmagoric?
I am not euphoric
at finding this word
so absurd
when I say it,
display it
on a page...
Outrage
at its hard hitting
syllable-splitting
rhythm is what
is not
pleasing to my ear,
dear.
So pardon my straying
while saying
how I feel
for real?
"I hope laughter
will follow after
reading",
say I, pleading -
notwithstanding -
for understanding!

Written in a moment of madness after reading IGWRT's prompt today from Laurie Kolp.

    1. In the days of my youth, when sweets were few and far between, there was a selection called ‘Winter Mixture’ – various hard candies, I guess you might call them – with flavours like aniseed, mint, liquorice, eucalyptus or paregoric – which was another direction your phantasmagorical word lead my imagination in just now!
Paregoric as a word had submerged in the silt of years inside my brain, so thank you for hooking it back to the surface today! LOL

  10. Much laughter, Jinksy, especially as we both, unbeknownst, used "euphoric" to rhyme with it. I understand, notwithstanding.
