In A Jam?

Rust -
that flaky, ginger, crust
whose russet tones pierce the heart
even as they start
alarm bells ringing,
cash signs pinging...
"How much for a new  -  ?!!
Whew!"

(You fill in the gap
chaps.)
If part of your car
rusts, better by far
you get it fixed
soon, despite mixed
emotions. The cash drain
will only increase, and you'll gain
nothing by leaving it till another day.
Pay up, grin and bear it.
"Shit!"

Written especially for Poetry Jam

  2. You're right, Jinksy! Rust is something you really don't want to let go... Also symbolic for other things in life, I think!! No problems improve with age!

  4. Funny poem! I like how you invite us to fill in the gaps. I also like "The cash drain/will only increase, and you'll gain/nothing by leaving it till another day.

  6. Glad to see you around again Jinksy--though I have been kind of off and on myself around the cyberpoetry world of late so maybe it was me....Anyway I enjoyed this--gave me a smile--I am always one who hopes my car will fix itself!
