Feast or Famine

Ocean winds blow
across the rooftops...

Gulls screech
and dive
for the breakfast scraps,
scattered
by an old woman.

A land-locked lawn
is a poor substitute
for the green waves' freedom
and Neptune's larder.

Only the small offering of a passing thought for Toad's Open Link Monday today...

  3. Amen to that that! Sometimes when the night sky is really blowing it feels like our house is a little boat on a great big sea. Awful if is weren't to awesome! Loved it.

  4. Love this! Wonderful that the gulls visit, but I'm with Kerry in John Masefield's poem "Sea Fever." You've added a mythic edge.

  9. "A landlocked lawn" is indeed a poor substitute, as well I know out here on the prairie, missing the ocean.
    Beautifully done, Jinksy.
